HI REN, 48x36, ACRYLIC AND OIL PASTELS ON CANVAS

Hi Ren is a painting of a song called Hi Ren by a fellow named Ren, got all that, there’s more. Not just any song, Hi Ren might be the most powerful song I’ve ever heard (go watch all 9 minutes on youtube!). It’s a true story written and performed by a young guy who has suffered from autoimmunity disorders, Crohn’s, psychosis, depression, and countless long term stays in hospitals. The song takes the most fascinating and deep look into mental health and the voices we all have in our heads to different degrees. And it does so in musical ways that I’m not sure have ever been put together. I’m not even sure if it’s music, it’s theater, it’s therapy, it’s brilliant. This is my visual interpretation of the song.
